A Gift to Pass On

RuthEllen’s artistic talents were never fully developed until later in life. She remembers using up a lot of notebook paper for her artistic creations causing her grades to suffer. However, a fifth grade teacher noticed some of RuthEllen’s sketches and approached her about creating a bulletin board for the class depicting an apple tree. RuthEllen was quite shy at the time and never pursued the request only to find another student’s design on the board a couple of weeks later. She took it very personally, thinking she had no talent anyway.

It wasn’t until 1980, after marriage and two children; RuthEllen began to realize that she might have some talent as she helped her son, Tim, with an art project for school. Soon after, RuthEllen was happily painting landscapes and traveling with her late husband, Jeff Busbee, and their children, Tim and Andrea, to arts & crafts shows around the southeast. In 1993, RuthEllen got a second chance to create an apple tree design as she was approached by her associate pastor to paint an original of an apple tree depicting those of Henderson County, implementing the verse, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last.” (John 15:16).

In the mid 90’s RuthEllen went through a difficult period in her life but out of that came a series of inspirational paintings starting with her best seller, “The True Vine”. Her series of the 23rd Psalm began to blossom out over the next few years though thwarted somewhat with supplementing the family income and life in general. In 1998, she lost her husband of 25 years, filling her time with working for a ladies garment industry where she faithfully continued to use her creative talents in embroidery design, traveling to Israel on a spiritual journey, to Russia six times, and to the Ukraine in 2011 to serve the Lord. In Russia, RuthEllen used her inspirational art work as a springboard to sharing God’s love with women and children.

In 2002, she was remarried to a gentleman from her church, Joe Boerman. RuthEllen completed her series based on the 23rd Psalm in 2004. She has reproduced the series of 10 in gicleé canvas prints. She has published 16 lithographs over the years, most of which are sold out some were published through a national distributor. In 2007, Mrs. Boerman released her first book, “My Favorite Psalm”.  The book sold out quickly and was published a second time where the second printing sold out in less that two years.  She has created several murals and scripture paintings upon request of several churches.

In 2009, RuthEllen was given the honor of having her delicate watercolor of a full and lovely apple tree, "Bearing Fruit", chosen as the logo for the 63rd North Carolina Apple Festival in Hendersonville, NC. To her delight, her grade school experience came into full circle, but her greatest pride is in her nine year old grandson, Brayden. :)

Her work has been sold in Alta Vista Gallery near Boone, NC and in Carolina Gallery, Spartanburg, SC.  In March of 2011, RuthEllen was pleased to be invited to display her work at the regionally acclaimed Wickwire Gallery in her hometown in Hendersonville, NC.  Wickwire is now closed.  You may see RuthEllen's work at the "Art Mob" on 4yh Ave. E, Hendersonville.

(RuthEllen considers True Vine Studio as her Heavenly Father’s business. In honor of that, 10% of the sale of an original, 16X20 or larger, will be donated to the ministry, charity, or missionary of your choice. Mrs. Boerman is willing to participate in a 25% donation from sales at a silent auction or fund raiser for your ministry. She is available on a limited basis to share her testimony with groups and/or the inspirational significance of her paintings.)
